Herkimer Coffee

Today I visited the S. Ravenna location of Herkimer Coffee. Located directly off University Way and Ravenna, it was pretty easy to find, and street parking was available. The store was much smaller that what I expected but they do offer a good amount of seating. No couches, but there is also some outside seating available. The wall are covered with art from a local artist and is for sale. Like most shops that roast their own beans, coffee beans are available to purchase along with some T-Shirts. For food options they offer pastries from Marcrina bakery and Café and also sell organic Mighty-O- Donuts. Herkimer Coffee gets 3 beans from me for the quiet atmosphere and good coffee. I would recommend this shop for a nice weekend afternoon of reading or studying. If you are feeling crazy on a nice day I would take a bike ride to one of the 2 locations, University Way and Phinney Ridge, 7320 Greenwood Ave. N.

Trabant Coffee and Chai

Trabant Coffee and Chai was a little hard for me to find today, you would think it would be easy since it is located right off 45th, but I was distracted by the comic book store sign that catches you eye and drove right past the shop. Trabant uses a coffee I have never heard of before, 49th Parallel, from British Columbia. There were 2 baristas working, the cashier was friendly and the one on the bar was not very social, but did know how to make drinks. I ordered a 12-oz vanilla americano which was a little week. The coffee was good and latte art comes on top of any drink which requires steamed milk. They offer pastries but I did not see any other food options available. No drip coffee is available but they do offer clover press coffee, which I have had before and is good. The shop has an upstairs loft area as well as a large seating area down stairs, however there are no couches or comfy chairs to relax in, just tables in chairs, which makes it a good places to go and study or use your computer for an afternoon. The music was fairly quite so I would recommend this place for a nice quite afternoon cup of Joe. They have free Internet and 49th Parallel coffee to purchase. One other thing I liked is that the decaf coffee from their roaster is Swiss Water Process which you can read more about at the link provided below. Over all I would give this shop 3 beans for an average cup of coffee and a nice quite atmosphere.

Sure Shot Espresso

Today I visited Sure Shot Espresso. Located on 45th and University Way. They use Bargreens coffee, roasted locally in Everett. Drip coffee is served and they also have White Coffee available,  There are food options such as sandwiches and pastries as well as vegetarian options. The 2 baristas were friendly and the prices are reasonable. They offer free Internet as well as in house computers for customer use. There are tables along with comfy chairs to sit and enjoy your drink. I really enjoyed the Hip Earthy Alternative atmosphere however it was lacking some art on the red walls. I got a vanilla latte, it a good drink, but not the best I have ever had. However the barista did know what she was doing. I would recommend this coffee shop for a social outing but was a little loud if you are looking for some place to sit and read.
